Sabina Prempeh - Arbuah is an International Recording artist making waves in the USA, she is a Singer, Songwriter and a Passionate Worshipper whose heart cry is for people to experience God in a deep intimate way through worship and praise. Her primary goal is teaching and communicating the essence of true worship through song. She has been following my updates onPriscillazPlace and I  want to use this medium to say a big thank you to Sabina for having the courage to contact me. Priscilla: How did you start your music?

Sabina: My journey into music started when I was about 9 yrs old.  I discovered a vinyl record of Mahalia Jackson (an American gospel singer who in my opinion is a legend) amongst my dad's records.  Her story, passion and powerful voice drew me.  I remember just constantly listening to her music multiple times  - It touched me very deeply.. In retrospect I see that God used that to birth a desire to sing for Him at that tender age.  I started singing publicly when I was 13 years old when I joined my high school church choir and my journey continues to the present and through doors God has opened in recording projects and sharing HIS music with the world.

Sabina: Who are your inspiration?

There are many artists that inspire and have continued to inspire over the years.  I enjoy listening to different genres of anointed christian music.  To name a few Cece Winans, Micah Stampley, Tamela Mann, Kari Jobe, Marvin Sap, Andrea Crouch (Of Blessed Memory), Chris Tomlin, Micheal W. Smith  etc.   My passion is to worship - I am inspired and drawn to worshippers whose hearts cry for more of God's presence and deeper intimacy

Priscilla: Do you have a preference in the kind of audience you want?

Sabina: Any listener and any music lover looking for an opportunity to connect with God in a very real, deep and intimate way.

Priscilla What impact do you want your music to have?

Sabina: To the glory of God, we receive testimonies of what God has been doing through Sabina Music; touching and transforming  lives,  and most importantly drawing people close to Him. My fervent desire is that the Music He has given me will draw listeners into a real intimate experience with God as they connect with His wonderful presence.  That worship will be birthed in all hearts and for His healing, joy, deliverance and strength to be made manifest.  His  Presence carries the fullness of Him and all we would ever want  -therefore, having that is Everything

Priscilla: Tell me about your Experience on the famous Bobby Jones Show?

Sabina:It was phenomenal.  A wonderful atmosphere of the saints of God gathered in Praise and worship.  Meeting Dr. Bobby Jones was very humbling for me - I had watched him for years on TV and now here I was.  He is very down to earth, has a great personality and most importantly is crazy about Jesus.  It was a great honor and a blessing to be able to minister on His platform and to have the show air multiple times on TV.

Priscilla: What is the inspiration behind your album?

Sabina: My latest release is  a full project 'He Reigns!' It is an explosive compilation of praise and worship music.   The project was birthed out of experiences as well as in  times of worship. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit and is a compilation of original songs I wrote with a fusion of classics that will connect any listener closer to God.

  

Prior to the album, I released an Easter single 'He Chose the nails' inspired by the price Jesus paid on the cross for our sins.  The choice He did not have to make, nevertheless a choice He made out of His love for us.  To reconcile us with God.

First of all, are you fully based in the US or do you intend shuttling between Nigeria and the US? SD:- I'm everywhere for now. I work in different places but most of the work I have been doing for now is in the US. She calls herself "JESUS PIKIN" {child} Priscilla:- I would love to know what you stand for generally? Principles? SD:- My principle in life is to live everyday trying to find your purpose and fulfilling it. Priscilla:- Acting and Singing, which one comes first for you and why? SD:- I don't ever pick one over the other because they are both a part of me, although my singing started way before I started acting but both have always been a part of me. (Smiles) So tell me, Which is your favourite? Stage or Screen acting? Why? SD:- I'm a screen actor and i'm a theater trained actor. I have a degree in theatre arts so as usual both of them are a part of me and challenge me in different ways but because I love the arts so much I can't say I prefer one to the other. I still don't know why but she just stood in front of me and was crying. Priscilla:- Your Favourite  Nigerian & US Gospel Artiste and why? SD:- Jumbo (Nigerian) and William McDowell (US). I like them because for them its more about the spirit not the vocal technique and style. It's about the God they are singing for. They lead you into worship without making you feel like you must sing like them before you can worship. Priscilla:- Favourite Scripture? SD:- Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a Hope Priscilla:-  The year is still fresh! If you were to compose a song for 2015,  in two lines, what will the content be? Title? SD:- Let love guide your heart and let us live in peace. The first thing I noticed about her was her red hair, then her voice, that was on BET Sunday Best when she came in for Auditioning- she definitely stood out and made a lasting impression that is still helping her till now. She is cool, humble, friendly to a fault, talented and anointed.

Talking on phone with her amazing uncle and  manager- Uncle G was absolutely an honour. I just love them, this is the second time am reaching out to her and she's always spot on..(My kind of guests}Thanks Alexis and Uncle G

Alexis made it to the Top 20 out of 15,000 who auditioned for the BET Sunday Best show and then survived the competition to the final, where she was first runner-up. "Even though I didn't win, I thank God for the platform that it provided, it really opened doors for me," she says.

She has completed recording her first album, L.O.L.: Living Out Loud, which was released on March 12, 2013, and debuted at #3 in the country. After 18 weeks after the release, L.O.L reached #1 in the country. Her freshman project L.O.L landed her Stellar Award nominations in two categories; "New Artist of the Year" & "Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year". Her first released single, "Imagine Me," is her take on a song by Sunday Best host Kirk Franklin, which she performed on the show

Priscilla: I think I would love to start with this fun question from an addicted fan in Lagos Nigeria and I quote--"Why the red Hair? Should we expect another?

Alexis: It's just my favorite color ☺ I didn't expect it to become a signature trademark thing, but after Sunday Best, it became that... It's a part of me now though... And a reminder that you don't have to fit into a box... But you can love God as uniquely as you wanna! & He'll love you the same. Be bold. Stand out and be confident!

Priscilla: Wow!!! It's really a cool signature for you. So tell me, how's your music career been since BET Sunday Best?

Alexis: OMG! It's been soooo busy!!! Loads of traveling all over the U.S. Bahamas, United Kingdom, Canada! Omg! I had a #1 album with my freshman project *L.O.L* Two Stellar nods... Now with a new label Uncle G records! Just released my first single #ALLTHEGLORY off my soon to be released project #DearDiary which debuts September 1st!!! Shhhheeeesh! So much!!! I'm grateful! God is so good.

Priscilla: Menn!!! CONGRATS. I can see you've been busy. About Uncle G, how did you guys meet? He's really doing a fantastic job. 

Alexis: He is my uncle!! He was working with Music World when I first got signed to them back in 2012 & the God in him is responsible for all my success! He's been in the business for many years. I'm humbled to work with such an integral man of God!

Tweep (UK) Why Gospel? What's your inspiration?

Alexis: God has done SOOO much for me, it's my obligation to sing about it!! Gotta tell the world how amazing He is!! I know he heals because when I was sick in the hospital at 5 years old hooked up to an IV and could barely talk, He healed me and let me sing all over the world! I know him to be a provider because when my family was homeless He made a way! I know him to be a deliverer because when I had insecurities, he showed me my purpose and my true identity! Im gunna tell the world about him 

Tweep (Ireland) How old were you when you started singing? How often do you vocal train?

Alexis: I am African American but my roots are actually Irish... My last name "Spight" is Irish! Started singing at 3 in church. I train everyday.

Priscilla: What inspired that song? The first time I heard it was in Toronto -I was lost in the song.so powerful

AlexisI: Learned in English that it's plagiarism to take credit for someone else's work... So we have to always remember to cite Jesus!!!
